Welcome to Venezuela

insanely progressive and socialist agenda

Why somebody should not be "progressive"? It is not related to "progress"? If the current system is not good, we change it, going forward, not backwards. Or should we go back to the free market capitalism of the 19th Century?

So, what is your problem with him?

Right wing nutters tend not to take kindly to contemporary Robin Hood's. Don't get me wrong, I don't support the guy or some of his wacky policies. But the hatred that people spew and the lies they use to discredit him is repulsive IMHO.

And judging from Gouchobob's profile pic he is probably at least 60+ years. His opinions are written in stone and you might as well try to have a debate with a wall in your apartment.

This is the Gouchobob definition of a democracy. If you don't want us to think you are setting up your own definitions to suit your own arguments, you might like to find a well-respected source that agrees with you. After that, you might like to offer an example of a country that passes the test. Let me help you with that: even Switzerland fails on your score though Sweden might possibly just scrape through.
You can cut Sweden out. No Swedish newmedia is allowed to speak badly about muslims, anyone who dare do is cut by society and blacklisted as a racist.

So you are basically saying that there is no freedom of speech in Sweden? Do you actually claim that the Swedish news media is being censored by the Swedish government? Are you aware that the current administration in Sweden is conservative? Personally, being Swedish, I find your accusations not only false, but being extremely ignorant and bigoted.

The Netherlands...
Please! - and Stalin was a liberal.

The judiciary in the Netherlands is corrupt.

Although all the prosecutors protested - in court they read aloud a clear statement to that effect - that Wilders critizism of, and quotations from, the Quaran is not against Dutch law, the president of the courts in Amsterdam ordered an indictment and forced a process. The president of the court even took the seat himself in a minor case - extremely unusual - against someone who had said that muslims are not an asset to the Netherlands in order to set a precedent so he can have Wilders sentenced in accordance with his own ruling.

A democracy is more than voting for one guy, its separation of powers, an independent judiciary, rule of law, a functioning legislature, freedom of the press and expression. Hugo has pretty much hollowed out all the institutions that make a democracy. A better question is why you think it is a democracy.

Who owns the newsmedia in the US of A? (all seven names, please).

Anyone who calls Hugo Chavez a communist is either propagandist or politically naive.

Chavez is neither a communist, nor is he a socialist.

He takes from the rich and give to the poor in order to buy their votes. If he could buy more votes by taking from the poor and give to the rich, he would do that instead.

Chavez is neither a communist, nor a socialist, but a Chavist (or Chavezist, if you prefer).

Chavez is crazy about having power, for two easily understood reasons.
1. Chavez loves to be the top dog, to be in power.
2. Chavez knows exactly what will happen to him, the day he looses his power - there will be a bill to pay.

Actually hes a self-proclaimed Marxist.

Its a bit more than 7 and the government isn't shutting down outlets that don't agree with it is more relevant in comparison to Hugo.

Actually the photo is not mine but of an historical figure bonus points if you can guess who. What, opinions of the over sixty set aren't valid, let me guess that you believe only the opinions of the young and uninformed are valid. Sorry to hear that defending basic human rights and democracy makes someone a right-nutter in your book, actually says more about you than you think.
