well you need a welding machine and rods, chipping hammer and a grinder and a welding helmet . there is a course next wednesday 18.30hs at the easy barracas it`s free.

to learn the basics is not that hard but to be abble to make good solid welds in a consistent basis takes practice.
you can rent a welding machine but you probably are gonna need a car or you`ll end up paying a lot of money to get it delivered to your house
if you are to buy a welding machine don`t buy from easy

You could for example buy a basic buzz welder on mercadolibre, some welding rods, welding gloves, and a welding helmet. Even watching youtube instructional videos you could begin to get a feel for it. Another thing to make sure of is that you have a place to do it, and the electrical service is going to hold up. Sometimes older electrical systems here are barely sufficient to run modern appliances and such. If you are sharing the space with others, they may have problems with surges affecting their electronic items, or repeatedly blowing the fuse. And regarding a place to do it, preferably outside or in a large empty space and without worries of kids or people watching you without eye protection or getting burned by stray slag, and no flammable items nearby. Whether you get instruction or self-teach, the main thing is practice. It can take a while to get a feel for it, as you are coordinating minute steady movements of the hand while viewing the operation through very dark goggles.

Other useful tools to get started:
angle grinder - (amoladora) for cutting and prepping practice scrap metal
c-clamp for holding two pieces in position.

I usually shop for this type of stuff on mercadolibre by finding a good price on an item from a small scale seller with a logo in their ad. Use the logo to look up their web site. Prices will be *far* cheaper than Easy or the like. This way you avoid the immediate commitment of buying directly through mercadolibre, and you can select what you want in person.

If you want a cheap Arc welder, you can pick one up of mercadolibre. You will also need to decide if you are buying a single phase (small) or 3 phase welder.
Also If you want to buy an arc, MIG or TIG welder.
To start, take a basic MIG welding course as it is the most practical and easiest.
I have 20 years welding experience with all 3 different machines, BTW.

There are some welding classes at this place-

its a trade school in Haedo, which is just past the city limits, towards Moron.

taught by an artist, María Claudia Martínez.

you might try contacting her- she may know more.

I do a lot of welding, just not here- my shop is in el norte.

Thanks a lot for recommedations. Another consideration is being able to access a workshop without buying the tools..... I'm currently in San telmo , and the journey to outskirts of town is will wean on me eventually ....
