Western Union money transfer

I was recently able to create the Pago Fácil wallet. During the process I indicated that my nationality is EE.UU. Immediately after creating the account I was asked to provide my "ID Social Number" so I entered my US Social Security number. Then I attached a pdf (made in "my drive" from a photo using my celular) of a completed and signed IRS form W-9 which I had downloaded from the IRS website. I then pressed "continue" and, almost instantly, my wallet was ready to use.

PS: Over ten years ago I was reqired by el Banco Santander Rio to submit a signed W-9 which includes a space for the Social Security number. It's OK to provide Pago Fácil with the requested information. In both cases it's required for compliance with FATCA.
Sometime last week my pago facil app stopped me from logging in, saying my user id was canceled. Couple days later I got an e-mail asking for documentation. I will start a new thread called Pago Facil

I suggest including the word "wallet" in the title.

I was asking for filling information and upload documents too, sent by a separated email.
I haven't uploaded yet.

Highly recommend using MoneyGram in lieu of WU. If you use a U.S. debit card to send to a virtual wallet, there's no fee, and then you can just transfer the money to your Argentine bank account if you need paper bills. Sure, there's an extra step of a transfer after the first transfer, but I find that the rate has consistently been better than WU for about the last 5 months (as long as I've been using MoneyGram) and it's great not ever having to pay a transfer fee of USD$30. Even the fee for charging the transfer to a a U.S. credit card is less than the typical WU fee. Plus, the ARS deposit always comes through to my MercadoPago account within an hour or so after confirming the transfer.

How long have you been doing MoneyGram to MercadoPago transfers? I assume they never asked you for additional paperwork? thanks

The entire time I've been using it (about 5 months). They only ask for standard basic identifying info for the sender and receiver.

I like MG too for the quick US debit card to argentina CVU wallet. Zero fee. Though annoyed because the rate they first show is higher, then later the CVU and a peso pickup at argentina office choices are lower than first shown. Still slightly higher than WU even when considering the WU fee with the 50% promo code. Then the MG transfer to CBU bank is even lower, so not worth it vs WU. Finally more angry because they often email 40% discount codes to me yet 40% of zero is still 0. This is the experience from US bank, I have read here in the forums that zero fee only happens on the first transfer which I assume is from other countries.

Often you can call WU and ask for a 50% off fee code.

The best close to zero fee is WU if handing cash in any of the many US locations. Varies by State maybe. $8 in NY regardless of amount sent. Obviously you need to do this before your flight or have some other person do this for you. That is what I have done a few times before returning to Argentina.
