Western Union money transfer

I just logged onto WU to make a transfer to be picked up at a WU agency. Given what has happened in the past 24 hours, I wanted to have some pesos in cash on hand and not in a bank. I have not yet used the Pago Fácil wallet. Tomorrow morning I will pick up the pesos in person in Punta Alta.

PS: Before I could initiate the transfer I recieved this notice:

What has happened in the past 24 hours? Do you have any good links to articles that you're referring too?

Did anyone try cash to bank transfer in the last couple of days using Western Union? We had error messages about the receiver's bank's name (picked from the list). Tried the same to a different account of the same bank and had the same results. Tried it yesterday and today, had the same error. No problems making the transfer from bank to bank (no complaints about the bank name). Online chat help wasn't capable, he escalated the issue to a dedicated team but they haven't responded yet.

Hi Rich, I simply clicked on the link in the post (#3937) that pmacay made yesterday at 12:01 pm and was immediately connected to Pago Fácil and then dowloaded the app (without a VPN)

PagoFacil app is asking for a "ID Social Number". Looks like they are asking for USA SSN and also asking to upload a document, (tax return?) Is this normal? Mercado Pago never asked for this, neither did the bank. Thanks

I was recently able to create the Pago Fácil wallet. During the process I indicated that my nationality is EE.UU. Immediately after creating the account I was asked to provide my "ID Social Number" so I entered my US Social Security number. Then I attached a pdf (made in "my drive" from a photo using my celular) of a completed and signed IRS form W-9 which I had downloaded from the IRS website. I then pressed "continue" and, almost instantly, my wallet was ready to use.

PS: Over ten years ago I was reqired by el Banco Santander Rio to submit a signed W-9 which includes a space for the Social Security number. It's OK to provide Pago Fácil with the requested information. In both cases it's required for compliance with FATCA.

Great info. I will do the same. Thanks
