Western Union money transfer

Never had luck with MG. Created a separate user for both myself and my wife. Both times our user accounts were suspended for "security purposes" after attempting 1 transfer. Many calls to customer service and they are not able to restore the accounts for any circumstances. We are not allowed to use our emails or phone numbers to create an account ever again. I didn't bother attempting a third time.

anyone have any experience dealing with the r7009 error code of western union? friend in america sent me 60 bucks to pay bills but it seems wu blocked me?

never mind, i thought of an alternative solution for using wu since i am blocked.

Western Union is a pricy way to receive cash here if doing so on a regular basis and of any significant amount.

I have tried using xoom.com, remitly.com and Western Union to transfer money from the USA into my Santander account, the amount arrives in pesos in my checking account. The "issue" with Western Union is it takes 8 days to complete the bank to bank transfer. I tried to use my debit card because it said the transfer is faster, 0-4 days instead of 8, but my debit card was rejected. I did an online chat with Western Union and was not given a satisfactory reason why it was rejected, since the debit card is pulling from the same account as the bank to bank transfer, just "we want to keep your finances secure" corporate mumbo jumbo. I called my USA bank and they said they did not reject it. I usually transfer $1K to $2K and factoring in the transfer fee, I still get a better rate then exchanging USA $$$ directly with my local cambio exchange guy. So at the moment, Western Union is the best way I've found to transfer USA $$$ into my Santander account into pesos.

Lately Western Union transfers are taking 5 working days (or 7 or 8 days). I don't know why. However in the past the length of transfers, regardless of payment method used, has been random. Many times I experienced transfer times of 2 or 3 days but occasionally I experienced longer transfer times. Western Union has never been good in helping with an explanation. It is still your best choice. Let's hope the transfer times will soon go back to being more reasonable.

I've done 4 USA bank to Arg Bank transfers with Western Union in the last 3 months and they all took 8 days, that is why I tried the debit card option, which failed to complete. I guess we're stuck with the 8 day transfer, just means I have to plan my expenses more closely. Since the ARG peso has been kind of stable lately and the rate has not been changing drastically, it's not so critical with trying to time transfers as you need them to get the best rate.

I was able to use my debit card with Remitly.com and it was almost an instant transfer of funds, but the rate was not as good as WU, however, it's good to know I have an option if I need funds quicker in a pinch.

I've been doing WU every couple of weeks for the past 4 months and the transfer never took more than 10 minutes. I could walk over to a branch and it would be ready by the time I arrived.

I made the transfer ('to self') in the Western Union iOS app, using a direct debit payment option common to my country of origin, maybe that's why. I usually go for $200K (USD ±165 at the moment).
