Western Union money transfer

I did a WU transfer on April 20. I loaded the www.capitalone.com chrome extension and have received a good discount on my last several transfers. The app is a little annoying because it pops up when you visit commercial sites that sell things, but it's worth it to get the consistently good discount rate on WU transfers. The transfer happened the next day, where usually it takes 8 days, so I don't why this one was so quick.
My last transfer also came the next day, which was very unusual. It usually takes 48 hours for mine.

western unions discounts are all algorithim driven. which means if my wife and I each separately price a transfer at the exact same time, all other details the same, they can easily be two different numbers. You get a fee based on mysterious things that change sometimes in five minutes. Sometimes the discount will appear, or disappear, within an hour, if I make two different logins to check pricing.
In other words, its somewhat random what the fees will be.

In the bond market the costs to bring in USD has been negative for some time now. If WU is using that CCL market instead of XE, they make 2-3% before any fee they charge you. Not to mention the poor conversion rate.

And as of the end of last week there is a shift occuring that will show higher volumes

Occasionally a user of WU reports not being charged fees, no one has yet found out why?
WU gives more the discounts and zero fee at times when there is less demand for their service in Argentina. Like when we all had 100% off coupons for most of the 2020-2021 years. Also when there is better opportunities for a better rate using other means. Like now they are showing me this zero fee.

Thanks for all the replies. I just made a transfer at 1:1474 with no fee. I thought that was a pretty good rate.

Like everyone I was getting no transfer fee fees through 2021. I stopped using Western Union in 2022 because the fees were getting high and credit cards were accepted more and more. I guess they want me back.

In Argentina you still need to have about five different ways to get money if you want to get the best rates.
