I'm here for the long haul but this is only my first year (I arrived near the beginning of the year) - I'm not sure if that qualifies me as ''expat'' or what 
For various reasons one or two of the countries I have called ''home'' in the past no longer feel like ''home'' - and from my point of view I'm pretty happy here. Here I have a choice about where I live and who I am surrounded by and the majority of my friends are locals - in fact I really only socialize with the locals. I'm not sure how that worked out really but the one or two expats I tried to make friends with here turned out to be complete tossers (maybe they thought I didn't have enough money or assets to qualify as an ''expat friend'') but at any rate, thats how it is
