Anyone enjoys Buenos Aires life around botanical gardens, Palermo area? Just curious if there are "locals", who could suggest their favorite places (reastaurants, museums, cafes, etc.).

Las Pizarras- crazy good restaurant, probably not with the kids, though- the owner is kinda uppity- but the food is world class- Thames y Charcas

I really like Oreja Negra, a mellow nightclub with tables, light snacks, cheap drinks, and great bands- its a 15 minute walk or so, on Uriarte right by Cordoba

but that would definitely require a baby sitter.
The Sivori Museum, on the other side of the Gardens, is a really great little museum in the park, and around the corner from the museum, on Dorrego, are a couple of outdoor stands that make killer choripan (sausage sandwiches) and bondiola (barbecued pork sandwiches) eat outside on a picnic table, cheap and good.

lots of other great museums very close- I always go to Malba, the Museum of Decorative Arts, the car museum in the Auto Club building, the Evita Museum (great restaurant there, too) and the ZOO! I love the Zoo- real carpinchos, the largest rodent in the world, swimming and climbing trees.
Plus, you should check out what is at La Rural- sometimes its an art fair, or food, or fashion- but often very fun, with samples and events.

Ries, thank you very much! We will definitely check out all your references. I can see the Zoo from our balcony. My kids have been asking to there for last two days. BTW, if you have kids or know kids activity places - please share - I'll be grateful.
Checked out a few restaurants near by. Mostly spent time around Armenia street. Good stores, goor restaurants. Overall, a great place. Thanks again.

My kids are 19 and 22. So their idea of kids activities are things I would rather not know about.
The buildings in the zoo are real, stone and concrete, each in the style of the country the animals come from- Hindu Temples, Morrocan bazaars, Byzantine ruins. From about 1900 or so.
Medio Oreinte, on Malabia y Cabrera, has the most amazing Shwarma sandwiches, to go only, on Saturdays. Go right now.

Over on Scalabrini Ortiz, right by Cabrera, are several good middle eastern delis, with fresh yogurt, feta, pita made today, figs, nuts, desserts and more.

Pepto Bismal. They have crema de bismuto but it comes in a very small bottle and is much more expensive than Pepto.

Ries, thanks a lot. Have been discovering Santa Fe and Armenia with all the other surrounding streets. Really good restaurants. Wine is too cheap - this may cause a problem
Just finished a quick bite at Nonnanona (sp?), very decent. Love the people here, really warm and friendly, but no too sweet. Unlike the deserts - damn, those things are sweeeet. Too sweet.

Missed the Medio Oreinte... Will go next Friday. Have many more Fridays and Saturdays to experience it.
