I am looking to buy myself some nice swanky shirts.

Brands - Diesel, True Religion, Zara, Gap

where to head for?

I checked Alto Palermo mall. did not like anything there.

any suggestions?

Imagine what would happen if a Primark (with the same prices they have in the UK) opened up in Buenos Aires!

They'd make a killing!

Some useful information on the question would help. No point picking on me and the words used for the question. If I start picking on your posts, you wont like it. I am very good at it, when I start.

I travel 3-4 times a year to NYC and London. dont need education on brands.

And yes, i needed something now in BA. When i travel next to those destinations, will buy more.

Your best bet then is to pick up some shirts when you are in NYC or London. What you'll find here is 1/3 of the quality and double the price.

Balthazar- but they only sell Balthazar, not any of those discount or trendy brands you listed.

or Hermanos Estebecorena-

both are high quality, stylish, local shirts.

or there is always Mr. Chirt-

I wonder how long it will take until Argentina manages to produce good quality clothing at competitive prices. I might be 80 by the time they finally embrace online shopping like the rest of the developed world?

If they paid as little as they pay in China, or the other places where "competitive" priced stuff is made, they could do it. Dollar a day, anyone?
Companies like Diesel, or Zara, or Gap are taking advantage of the workers who make the shirts, big time. Often the wholesale cost of a shirt like this, at, say, the Gap, is one or two dollars, including the fabric- which means a few pennies for labor. Argentine clothing is made by people who are paid far more.

Its the same reasoning behind the American Apparel T Shirts (made in the USA) costing $22 each, while a T shirt at Walmart can be five bucks.
How long will it take the USA to produce good quality clothing at competitive prices?

Go check out Diesel in Patio Bullrich in Recoleta. My boyfriend works there and im sure he could help you find some stuff!
