Where To Exchange Pesos Back Into Usd (Or Something Usable)

Why would you want to cash in your hard-earned pesos of noble Argentina for imperialist blood money?

I have a lot of pesos I need to get rid of in the next month and a half. I've started drinking really expensive wine, eating out at nice restaurants, taking taxis and going shopping for stuff to potentially sell down the line back in the U.S. Turns out Buenos Aires is a pretty nice place to live when you can afford to do things like that all the time! In my next life, I'll come back down here as a wealthy retiree or trust fund brat. I suggest you go to a cueva or start living the high life unless you're willing to try to Ebay/Craigslist a bunch of crap later. Yes, it's stab in the gut to think of all that hard-earned money you're basically throwing down the toilet, but if you're not willing to go to a cueva or be a leather mule, you might as well have some fun.

Another option would be to donate what you have left to a worthy charitable organization. Pesos may be worthless to you, but they can be put to good use in Argentina by people who need them. This is probably what we'll do with what we have left at the end, and we're currently looking into charities, so if anyone has recommendations, please leave them here.
Since you have got "a lot of Pesos" care to donate to my NPO? Will need all your non good Pesos to make a good use of them!

Better trade your pesos fast into dollar in 90 days the Blue may be over $15 pesos

Luego de esa introducción, el especialista auguró que probablemente el dólar oficial esté a fin de año "en torno a los 9,50 y 10 pesos", y es muy posible que "se amplíe la brecha con el blue, que cotizará por arriba de 15 pesos".

Buy something made in Argentina, take it over the border and sell it in Uruguay

Try EZE international waiting area. Hold up a placard that says "CAMBIO".

You'll get some attention.

Everyone who comes to Argentina to visit uses our pesos and pays us back in dollars. Of course, we give them a much better rate than the official one, and we get a bit more on the exchange than the black market rate. Everyone is happy, since they know the money isn't counterfeit, and no one is getting ripped off. We aren't even looking to make more money than the black market, we just want to get rid of the pesos before they are more worthless!

If you find this miracle place where people are making profits on the exchange, please do share. Most of our Argentine friends can't get their hands on a dollar these days to save their lives...

Hi all and thanks for the replies. I appreciate everyone's sincerity, but I'm a bit stubborn because rumors persist that there are people profiting from the black market exchange rate, though it may be a less than legal practice. The million dollar question is where, in which country or location will people give you back USD (or some other S. American currency) at a rate that's less obviously not as good as the official rate, but also not as "bad" as the blue rate.. thereby making a profit.. anyone ?

I think you just misunderstood the profit system, people are profiting, but only from selling dollars. Buying dollars, the reverse, is always going to be at a loss.

I last visited Argentina in January 2014, and when I got back to the United States, I didn't bother trying to change back my money into dollars:

After my January 2013 trip, I was determined to change my unused pesos back into dollars. However, it was pretty much impossible to get the official rate outside of Argentina, whether it was at exchange counters at airports, at banks, etc. Everyone knows that the peso is losing value pretty much daily, and nobody really wants Argentine pesos, unfortunately.

In fact, as far as I know, the only way to get the official rate of pesos --> dollars is to:

1) Go to a legal exchange house and change your dollars --> pesos when you first arrive and then keep the receipt that they give you.

2) Before you leave, you can change back your unused pesos at the official rate, pesos --> dollars, as long as you have your receipt to prove that you acquired your pesos through legal means.

However, exchanging dollars --> pesos at the official rate is very unfavorable if you are a tourist...so it's probably not worth the hassle.

Honestly, as others have said, I think that "living large" on what money you have / buying things cheaply in Argentina and reselling them back home, or perhaps donating to a charity...or even finding someone going to Argentina soon who needs pesos, would be the best way to get rid of unused pesos.
