History repeating. The present currency, the AR$, was only created some thirty years ago and was pegged one to one with the US$. The idea worked perfectly until, just ten years later it didn't work at all.

Printing an actual denomination on a peso note in a high inflation environment throws people off though when you’re trying to peg a currency. Just printing a big”X” on it instead of a number makes the job much easier.
