Winter Olympics

Yes, Argentina has 7 people competing. Look for Argentina in the dropdown list.
I just looked at the list of athletes. 3 (THREE) are siblings from Bariloche. Their bios read like "[Insert name] lives in Bariloche and likes to do extreme sports and/or chill when not playing with their dogs or not working due to family money."

Then there's a 47 year old dude ("Speedy Gonzalez") that competes in the luge. I'm sorry, but his bio should read "Happens to be from a country with 40 million people, yet is the only person with the finances and the free time to be able to take up the sport." He might be older than the FATHER of that luger who died last week. FORTY-SEVEN?!?!

The Winter Olympics is totally the White/Wealthy Olympics. The Summer is the darker Olympics that mixes the haves with the have nots. Not saying one is better than the other, just pointing out what they truly are.

You are only right when the winter olympics participants are from the U.S or Canada.

Most of the European athletes in the Winter Olympics are not from upper class backgrounds, they are usually a product of a well supported sports club, and from a nationality that usually holds the sport in a high regard.

This holds true with some summer sports as well. Such as Cycling, Swimming, and Tennis.

The Argentines have only 7 athletes competing but they sent a group of more than 30 to Vancouver -- they used the entire Olympic fund to put up a bunch of a$$holes in Vancouver for a couple of weeks.

Good on the 47 year old, but man, he was more than a little pudgy when I saw him! It's a total joke that the Argentines are going this way -- why not use the funds to support the few real athletes and fuck the rest of the guys that want to go just so they can have a free stay in Vancouver/Whistler.

A lot of countries go with just a few athletes, but you'd hope that they'd spend the money ON the athletes and not on the rich a&&holes that just want a free trip.

On a kinder note: My cousin KRISTINA GROVES won BRONZE the other day! woohoo! And it wasn't even her strongest event, so we're looking forward to seeing more out of her -- her specialty is 1500m and she was ranked World No. One coming into the Olympics so hopefully we'll see some gold!

She's got the 1000m on the 18th and the 1500m on the 21st, so keep your eye out for her results!

Winter is general is a bourgois experience

Note that in general, cold countries are more developed (because they have to be, otherwise they wouldn't survive) and hotter countries are less developed (in GENERAL, yeah yeah, there's exceptions, but the poorest countries are hot.)

So of course winter sports are elitist. They require survival in winter which requires equipment. That's why futbol is the beautiful (read: universal) game: all you really need is a ball.

Soooo... El Alamo, Canada v. America hockey? Has anyone confirmed that El Alamo will show it?
