Ahh, the spelling is key. Had no idea baludo derived from a verb. jaja, an important amplification then for baludos baludeando in Buenos Aires.

If you use it as a transitive verb (boludear a alguien), an alternative meaning is you are taking advantage of someone / taking them for a ride.

Your driver used it intransitively, though, with the meaning explained by Iznogud above.

The transitive verb use is quite a fresh variant used by the young generations.

While the french have the word "couillon" with the same meaning, it´s use is not as wide. They really are into cunts, hence the equal of boludo (from big balls) would derive from the word "con" (coño in spanish) all from the Latin word.
