I'd say don't go for Vicente Lopez, it isn't the same now that they've taken down the river to build a highway!

    advice on student visa

You could speak to the embassy and explain your situation, explain as well you can't be missing your school year and request the process to get done down here in Argentina. You already had been accepted once and there shouldn't be any issues getting it re-newed. Usually under these cases I...

    So effing rude!

Celia, you have to keep in mind that ever since the Falkland Islands this country has been really effy about supporting foreigners. Speaking here as a half Argentine myself, my mother had married another guy before having me and adopted two children, and they both hate me. They can't stand it...

    En Negro

I'd gladly join your company just to work in blanco. There's two kinds of people here, those who actually want the benefits and trust one day they will be able to get their pension and those who don't. Sad fact is once your monthly pay is over 4500 the AFIP takes about 800 pesos to cover up...

    Palermo Meetup - Wednesday - March 2

My English is fine, I just have an odd mix of accents. Half American half Aussie, people say. That's because of the people I've hung out with and dated. Hahaha. I speak English better than Spanish, in fact, but I like teaching Spanish :3 But yeah, thank you for being so very welcoming, count...

    En Negro

If possible most people prefer to give the pay in negro because of the taxes, that's pretty much it. Those whom give the pay in blanco are those whom either own big corporations, companies or find themselves unable to do pay in negro even though it is likely they'd prefer to do so.

    Relocation with 2 kids, 10 & 13 - thoughts?

Belgrano is probably your safest bet, I wouldn't put my hands on the fire for any neighborhood but Ive lived in Belgrano and it's one of the nicest neighborhoods. One of the best schools you could take your kids to is St. Catherine's School, I don't know how much it is per month there anymore...

A date out of the ordinary!

I support this strongly, also bring some lunch, if she's into petit cute things then tea sandwiches might work out very well, you can buy really good ones at catering places around the city. You can also go roller skating and cycling at el Rosedal, you just rent the bike/roller skates and off...

    subte nightmare with phone

You should never have your phone in your pocket nor your backpack on your back while riding the subway/bus, as stupid as this may sound. Likewise while you walk around Florida or Lavalle st. Those sneaky fuckers be sneaky, yo.

Most liveable barrios in BA not named Recoleta or Palermo?

I second the "Belgrano" motion. Belgrano and Palermo are def the most liveable places to live here, whether you are an expat or a local.
