30 year old couple moving to BsAs...is $2,000 a month realistic?

Great. Hope you are in an open relationship. Lot of fun in BA for a fit good looking single 30 yr Old man.
Ceviche,

There is one kind of person who is even more attractive than that.

It's the person, male or female, does not matter the sex, who has the means to live. (That is code for a lot of money.)

I can't tell you how many times in life I have observed mis matched couples. Either the female or male is quite unattractive, yet their partner is drop dead attractive. And yes, the attraction is that the very attractive partner finds the money extremely attractive.

But to be fair, I have also observed situations where the unattractive person with the very attractive person had a million dollar personality. A completely beautiful person from within. So it can and does happen happen. both ways. But, it is usually the money factor.

Good observation, Tigre.

Amazingly, the unattractive but loaded partners often manage to believe they are loved for themselves. Hope springs eternal....!

Hey thanks for the nod OTB.

It is best to be honest with yourself. There is a small percentage of HNWI (High Net Worth Individuals) who know their attraction is their assets. And an even smaller portion of those people use it to their advantage without being an unbearable person to others. In other words, they are gracious and humble, but they know what is what. I have a lot of respect for this part of the demographic.

One's assets are not what one is, nor are they always the result of personal ability. Sometimes being rich is just luck - being in the right moment at the right time, or being born to the "right" set of parents.

No reason to brag about being "high net worth".

The best compliment is being called "lucky" or "privileged" for something you achieved through effort and planning.

It means that your results are so good that they cannot fathom how they can be achieved without divine intervention.

"Yes, it was all luck."

Sorry, I meant to write "being in the right PLACE at the right time...."

Still, very few things beat being born to the right set of parents. Parents specially blessed with great intelligence, caring, connections, or just plain wealth.

Tony Fernandes, the entrepreneur who founded the no-frills airline AirAsia was quizzed. As they spoke, Fernandes modestly attributed his success to serendipity. He told that he had been thinking about how to create a low-cost way to fly for the more than half of Asians who never got on a plane. He was looking for the right entry point. After the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the costs for leasing planes dropped dramatically, so it was much easier to get into the business. As he said—serendipity. Or maybe not!!

The local saying is «billetera mata galán», meaning fat wallet/deep pockets beats cute/handsome.

Cevice, nightlife happened during the 80s for me. Abroad. Disco still sucks!

Don't have a clue about the local culture, naturally being a local. Blind to things happening right in front of me.

Also, I guess you'll be nearer to their whereabouts and 30 years closer in terms of common grounds.

At midnight, I magically turn into a log.

Hi All,

My girlfriend and I are planning on leaving Florida this summer for Buenos Aires. I know that things will likely continue to change due to the economy/inflation, but I wanted to see if $2k a month (right now) for us sounds like it would be srealistic.

About us:

- Likely spending around $500 a month on an Airbnb (Palermo or Recoleta likely)

- I would consider our "lifestyle" 6 or 7 out of 10. When we like to eat out a lot with lunch or dinner but don't really go to expensive or super high end dinners. Girlfriend does like to cook too so I would say we would be cooking 30% of the time.

- Would be using either the "dolar blue" exchange rate or whatever the rate of Western Union is.

- We are pretty active. Would do a lot of walking and if not then buses/metro. Would only use Uber/taxi's on the rare occasion

- I'm sure we will spend a little on entertainment. City tours, futbol games, a boliche once a week.

We both haven't been but plan on travelling the world. I speak conversational Spanish but have already made friends in my industry in BsAs. I personally think there's a lot that I will enjoy about Buenos Aires (food, the type of friends they are, Futbol, nightlife, the city life) so I'm really looking forward to starting our journey!
Spending $500 on an Airbnb will work...you might even extend that to $600. I have lived in 2 AB in the last 6 months and prices have dropped like a stone. When you do your search put in a 4 month time frame for the search to get an idea of availability. For 600$ you can live really well. That leaves you $1400. Ruling out any medical expenses.....your are rich. Period. Or you are an idiot. Your breakfast ribeye steak for the two of you will be no more than $5.50 at home. A medical specialist costs not more than $18, usually. Prices are so low it is shocking. If it all looks like financial Disneyland from where you are sitting....you are right...it is. Taxis don't cost more than $1.70 or so.....don't even think about a car. Rough prediction....you will have at least $300 left at the end of the month...(excluding all booze...but I pay $1.80 for a bottle of wine)
