I just read this article and began to wonder about the political feasibility, not to mention military capability, of the horrific thought of a Falklands 2.
Considering these new aircraft won't be available for what? Five years?

Pure fear mongering. As I mentioned before, the "brains" of the aircraft are British made. The UK can simply refuse to sell the components or install an almost infinite number of hidden backdoors they can exploit in case of conflict with Argentina. These planes pose no threat to the Falklands.

Embraer has a good reputation. And I have no doubt that they can produce on contract. I still don't see Argentina being able to afford such a purchase as buying is a small part of the cost of ownership.

Argentina has no funds for such a purchase. The only way this can happen is if the Brazilian government, via the BNDES bank, becomes a guarantor for Argentina. EMBRAER will lobby heavily for that and will bribe whomever needs to be bribed in order to make it happen.

I flew two Embraers last week and they were much better than the MD-80 that I had flown a couple of days before.
