Abortion to become legal.....

I'll just make a prediction here that might save you all a lot of time:

No one on this forum is going to change their mind on abortion due to discussions here.

As you were.

This is probably true but people do change their minds - experience is much more likely to be a factor. Let me cite an example: a foreign friend in Argentina supported abortion then someone he knew, an Argentine, got a girl pregnant and the couple, though very poor, decided to have the child. Now the friend is considered an uncle to this beautiful child. He has completely reversed his views on abortion and understands that the right to life is the most fundamental right of all.

Why do expats think they have a right to change Argentine culture? It is nothing less than a form of cultural imperialism. Who is providing the funding for the pro abortion movement? Is it coming from very wealthy and powerful sources from abroad? The majority of Argentines do not support abortion but are being pressured to accept it because it has become standard in more affluent and powerful societies.

I guess there will be as many opinions as members in this Forum

Interesting would be to discuss Abortion and "Legalization Of" ONLY form an Argentine perspective, and the legislation currently in Congress..! Legislation in other countries would be too tedious to discuss and some of us may lack information on legislation in Russia, USA or Romania.

A Special Congressional Commission, formed by women only, should be created to debate the issue of Abortion, .!

Taxpayers should pay for abortions, like we do for Pregnancy, Natal Care, Childbirth and Post Natal Care. IMHO. Avoid Pregnancy ..!

Guess One must a definite position...?

Isn't most pro-life funding coming from a very wealthy and powerful source based in Europe, which has a criminal apparatus that has protected child abusers from prosecution and enabled their continued sex crimes? They may have been involved in imperialism that erased entire cultures from the Western hemisphere as well.

The poor and uneducated should stop being pressured by this powerful affluent entity.

Uh...amen.

Arguments against legalizing abortion have very much to do with people's fears of changing gender roles. In a very Catholic and patriarchal society, this is doubly true. A woman who is allowed to control how many children she has (and when) is a woman who enjoys economic independence. Many traditionalists are threatened by this. Denying bodily autonomy is an easy way to keep women poor, a dependent underclass open to exploitation.

Even if it is outlawed, wealthy women always find ways to get abortions. They can travel, they can pay for good doctors, etc. Outlawing abortion isn't going to stop a practice that has gone on for thousands of years, it will just make it more difficult and more dangerous for poor or marginalized women to access it. But I guess it's better to some that a woman dies from daring to control her body, at least she knows her place in society, no?

All the religious talk about 'killing babies' is just a cover for keeping women in their place. Don't ever doubt it.

If I understand correctly, legalizing it doesn't force it. It could be legal and all argentines still have the right to not get an abortion. I don't think anyone is proposing forced abortion.

He may own a 100% if he will hire a surrogate mother
