Adopt a dog

Is there anyone here on this forum that has experience or know a dog shelter around central Buenos Aires?

I appreciate any tips and websites.

I have three dogs for adoption right now (all females) :
- a german sheperd mix, female, around 6 years old, very sweet, good guard, submissive with male dogs & a bit dominant with females. She seems to have a light displasy.
- a collie (seems to be a pure breed), female, around 5 years old, very sweet, doesn't like people on bicycles. She is overweight. She has a very weird trait : first time in my life I see a dog smiling (when she's happy, she smiles like a human would -> very odd!).
- another female, around 3 years old, a bit like a mix of a Husky & German Sheperd, not too big (around 30 lbs), very very sweet (too much in fact, wouldn't make a good guard). Perfect health

The Protectora Sarmiento (I think its in Montserrat - PM me if you can't find the contact details via google as I have a friend that volunteers there) have lots of rescue dogs for adoption. If you'd like to give a second chance to a really hard-done-by animal (there's a lot of them here, unfortunately) or pup that's been rescued from the street/in temporary accommodation (and doesn't have a place at a shelter) PM me...I have a lot of contact with animal rescue groups here on FB and they are constantly looking for adoptive families for these lovely creatures!

http://www.elparaisoanimal.com/inicio.htm (fantastic animal rescue center. read through the website and you'll cry, guaranteed! they are always looking for homes for cats and dogs.)

For anyone considering adopting a cat, be careful with Hogar De Protección Lourdes in San Telmo/Monserrat. They have several denuncias against them, and for good reason (see No Al Hogar Lourdes). They put healthy and sick animals together in tiny cages and keep them in a small, dark room with no natural light. The place is a breeding ground for disease. I know from firsthand experience - I adopted a cat from there a month ago and it turns out she has a contagious shelter disease that was likely picked up from this place. Another place I've heard to avoid is Centro Michimiau.

We adopted our dog, Picaro, from them. They have a facility at a vets office in Pilar where we met Picaro and then they brought him to Parque a las Heras the next weekend - fully bathed and with the bed, bowls and food we had picked out. We had a really positive experience with them! If you have any questions, let me know.

Also, we this past week we had taken a trip to Mar Azul where there are a lot of purebred dogs on the streets. Its widely known that families have purchased purebred dogs from irresponsible breeders and play with them at the beach. At the end of the vacation, they leave them there to become street dogs. We had run into collies, terriers, a very sweet Bernese Mountain dog and german shephards.
