Affordable Dolce Vita in Buenos Aires?

It is unrealistic for anyone to plan on "permanently" resettling in a foreign country without first experimenting. OP, come to BA, preferably not in summer months of Jan and Feb when weather is hot and muggy, rent a furnished apt for a few months, and determine whether you want to extend your exploration after you have lived here. Then you will be a better position to think about a permanent relocation.

I don't think the OP is already planning a permanent move:

So, here's my situation, what I am currently looking for at the moment, and why I think Buenos Aires might be THE place for me to relocate to for awhile...and also see if i can find a good job there and either stay there permanently or wait until things settle down in USA/Spain.

I think he is one of the few "wannabe expats" who really has a good shot at "making it" in BA, and I can't see any harm in trying. If he hasn't found the kind of job he wants in six months he can apply for the visa rentista and stay on. The visa rentista might put his trust fund income in the crosshairs of AFIP (for taxation), so it might be even better simply to stay until he finds a job or decides to leave.

Just to clarify one point for the OP: You wiill be able to get a DNI as soon as you are granted a work visa:

Good question! My landlady put this clause in the lease. I had no problem with it until I realized that the maid would only show up if she wanted to. Have spoken with the landlady on numerous occasions and she keeps telling me that it is required because it is in the lease. I told her that I would like to hire my own maid and she said that it is not possible. I think that this is her way of keeping an eye on her apartment making sure that nothing is being destroyed. Any suggestions???

There's probably nothing in the contract about you bringing in your own maid. I'd say hire one, and make sure you stay in the apartment while she is cleaning. That way she is a visitor/guest during you during your stay and not a 3rd person (not on the lease) with access to the apartment. Your landlady may not like it, but there's no harm or clause preventing you from having a "guest" come in a help you clean on a weekly basis. We did this at a rented place we had here years back and had no issues.

You will still however, have to let the other one come in and "spy" on your place whenever she feels like showing up. The good thing is the place will be cleaner and you can send her home faster.
