Air Conditioning Situation In Ba

Regardless as if HK has English as official or not,and perhaps prior to returning to the red chinese, the majority of Hongkonese knowst to me, their English proficiency is far to be true, thus the OP's fluency has gotten my attention. Perhaps his Google translate works better than my Japanese tool!

The last time I visited Hong Kong, their inhabitants couldn't speak an Iota in English or did not understand their English..

My comment was more to do with your observation that his English was good considering he didnt come from the U.S. Not to mention the other 1.4billion people around the world who speak English that dont come from the U.S

I have lived in the same Buenos Aires apartment that I bought many years ago. I do not have air conditioning by choice. This past year summer was much hotter than any year that I can remember. I don't know how hot it got, but certainly not to 40. Stores and restaurants are air conditioned. Black outs happen and I heard of 1 area of the city that was without power for about a week, but that certainly isn't the norm. The problem with black outs is that one never knows for how long they will last.
Why are people surprised that people in Hong Kong know English. I was an English colony, for Pedro's sake. I'm sure that a Much higher percentage of Hongkongers speak English, than Portenos.
About the air conditioning; not to worry.
Yes, Buenos Aires has a Chinatown with Chinese supermarkets.

Hi Vwang777, have noticed hence you declared you're from Hong Kong instead coming from the US, your English in general is pretty good ..Your writing is as good as any "Mericanos" or better than some native English speaker in here. The Hongkongnese that I have accostumed to known they are not as fluent as you seemingly. ?

I actually studied in international schools throughout my entire schooling career, i.e. all my subjects were taught in English by Americans and I took the SAT and APs and all that. I guess that explains why my English is so good :)

I lived in Hong Kong - The summers in BA are not as oppressive. There certainly isnt as much aircon as in Hong Kong. But the aircon in Hong Kong is crazy cold which just shocks you more everytime you step into the street. Last summer was especially hot and humid in BA but generally its not as oppressive as Hong Kong.
Also the winters in BA are probably quite similar to Hong Kong maybe a touch more rain.

In short, you´ll be fine.

How cold is "crazy cold". I like it 70-71 F. Is that "crazy"? In BA I really feel uncomfortable in many buildings where the ac temp has to be high 70's F.

Oh! OK, lost in translation then...Pardon me..

73~75 F, is the temp I like to combat the heat currently in the US. The ambient temp oscillating arounds 90 F...
I kind of liking the returning summer weather but not liking the water bill to my lawns. Currently paying approx US$250 a month.
My water bill is higher than my energy bill ( electricity-gas ).. Well there is water conservation warning goping around CA, I see
conserve water sticker in my Gym's washing room. But then, I really like to see my lawns green !

I think the summer in BsAs is better in Hong Kong.
