AirBNB / DNI

If they're usurping property can't you call in the police to throw them out?
Clearly more than meets the eye. The word "illegal" implies a criminal. More than likely they are undocumented working migrants and don't have IDs. I also strongly doubt there are people living there free of charge as usurpers. More than likely the unit is under dispute in probate and meanwhile one of the inheritors is informally renting it out to a friend. It happens all the time here that in-fighting between siblings, estranged children of previous marriages, insane attorney fees, etc. cause properties to sit in legal limbo as semi-abandoned properties. It would explain why nobody is paying the expensas.

whats the correct reply to their request?

I think this conversation is starting to confuse not wanting to email your documents to some random property manager with not wanting to have identification at all.

Airbnb has your information, and it has the information of the host. That is part of the point. What I tell them is something along the following: I'm concerned about my identity not being stolen, so I won't be able to email you a copy of my passport, but of course when I arrive, I'll be more than happy to show you the physical copy.

Please note I think it is perfectly reasonable to be asked to show your ID when you arrive at a hotel or a rental property.

The property managers hate this response because that means they have to meet you at the place. The reason they want you to email it is because they are too lazy to meet you. Let's keep in mind they are renting the Airbnb for 3 or 4 times what they would make on the local market. They have complete freedom to rent to a local, get the DNIs, and register that lease with the city government. We all know how they feel about that.

Hi - I’ll be renting an AirBNB in Buenos Aires. The host wrote:

“Sending digital copies of the IDs in advance is a building requirement to allow access.”

I’ll be using my Argentina DNI. I’m hesitant to share a copy. But not worth worrying about?

Thanks for any comments.
I had to do a digital check in at an Airbnb in Italy and had to send copies of my passport in advance. I guess it is the trend
