Amazing how expensive BsArs is

I left my last retail business in Chicago on November 1, 2000 and I have been living in Latin America, witout a job, since my arrival in México a few days later

Should have said "without a job or a retail business " and added that all of the personal income I have generated in Latin America has been from rentals and the sale of one house in Mexico and the sale of two apartments in Argentina.

Brilliant response. Thanks. I have taken local jobs and navigated lean times here. I know exactly what it looks and feels like when pesos don't make it through to the end of the month. How it feels to downsize your living accomodations accordingly and eventually move in with your in laws in the provincia. But again, thanks for your advice.
You downsize if you lose your job and qualifications not enough for a new one but if you’re suffering because of the corrupt system, then you can’t ask people to downsize. You’re in a foreign country trying to establish yourself. Downsizing may be an option but you can’t tell or expect locals to downsize when they don’t deserve it.

You’re misunderstanding me. I never told anyone to downsize — I was sharing my own experience, and how hard times taught me to be resourceful. That’s not advice, it’s just perspective.

And I’m not “trying to establish myself” here — I’ve lived in Argentina nearly half my life.

It’s clear we’re speaking past one another, and that’s fine. I’m stepping out of this thread.

Best of luck. Sincerely.
