This song is dedicated to Diego, who like the rest of us is a BA Expat. Yes from Colombia. I can imagine his Argentine boss greeting him every morning, "I went through all the trouble of getting you a work permit and you lose $800 to this so-called International Guy...."

Music by the Eagles, Lyrics by Joe. I call this song, "Hotel Argentina"

On a dark deserted subte, humid wind in my hair
Warm smell of Fugazzetas, rising up through the air
I looked down at my shoes, I see a brilliant red
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
Diego stood in the doorway;
"You can stay here for a spell"
And I was thinking to myself,
"This would be Heaven if there were a Taco Bell"
Then he lit up a candle and he showed me the way
BA Expats down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel Argentina
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel Argentina
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

I lost again at poker, I got the Madero Casino bends
I got a lot of pretty, pretty boots in the storage bin
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up Captain Dave,
"Please bring me my wine"
He said, "We haven't had parties here since two thousand and nine"
BA Expat voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel Argentina
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
There's a Coffee Chat at the Hotel Argentina
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
Fernet and Coke on ice
And GMX said "We are all just Expats here, of our own device"
And in Ajo's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab him with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said Diego,
"We take dollars at the blue.
You can check-out any time you like,
But don’t forget to pay! "
