I have a friend who was threatened by him several years ago. He is now the minister of security and threatening critics.

He has been accused of being behind drug deals and murders, I don't know if it's true, but I question why a government that is so supportive of human rights is giving this man power.

The fact you believe the Government is supportive of human rights is where you went wrong. These politicians do not give a single fuck about you or anyone else - the goal is to line their pockets while the sun shines and play the role of 'socialismo para todos !!'

I'm sure the K apologists are going to say it's some CIA conspiracy or something.

The fact that AF is telling a critic publicly on Twitter that he knows where his kids go to school, makes me believe my friend is just one of many who was bullied and threatened. My friend is a normal hardworking Argentine, not involved in politics, shady business or anything else.

I can't understand how this government can say with a straight face say that they care about people. My cynicism increases every day.

I'm glad you posted this latest news about the most recent threat / act of intimidation by the new Minister of Security against a journalist and his children (ORT is the school where the journalist sends his children) It is very serious and sign of what kind of behaviour this government is not only comfortable with, but capable of.

PS ORT has confirmed it does not receive state subsidies and the journalist who was threatened also received threatening whatsapp messages directly from Anibal Fernandez even though he has never shared his contact information with him, let alone told him where his kids go to school. Illegal state espionage against private citizens and journalists?

Now he claims he had no idea that Nik's kids went to that school. I didn't hear about the journalist, but it sounds like something he would do.

People can believe what they want, and as I said I have no idea if the most serious claims against him are true or not, but he is most certainly a bully and someone who threatens others to get his way.

That the government is putting him charge of the security apparatus of the entire country is frightening.

If the President wants to show that he is a decent man, he will fire him. If not, he proves that he is a coward controlled by CFK.

The opposition asked for his resignation. The President refused to entertain the idea. "Sorry not sorry".

Shameful.
It gets worse:

“How could I know his kids go to that school, that’s what that son of a whore Macri would do” (referring to alleged illegal espionage under the former administration.)

This guy and his party do nothing but blatantly incite hatred and violence, and threaten, bully journalists or anyone else that criticizes them. Imagine if someone from JxC spoke this way about an ex president who was democratically elected...

Fortunately elections are coming and most Argentines are simply sick of this kind of mierda.

At this point I truly wonder if CFK bought him and that new anti-abortion apologist for rapists chief of cabinet in to loose the election. Maybe a loss would force Alberto out early and get her back on the throne to dictate out the next two years according to her own agenda... or maybe she knows just how screwed the country is in the near-term and it’s better to cut her losses and push someone else in the firing line to be able to “blame “ during the 2023 campaign..?

"In an interview prior to his escape, Cristian Lanatta claimed the former Chief of the Cabinet, Aníbal Domingo Fernández, had ordered the murders in a bid to consolidate control over ephedrine trafficking in Argentina. This was not the first time Fernández was accused of being involved in the Triple Crime or trafficking ephedrine, a precursor chemical for manufacturing methamphetamine and other designer drugs."

A staunch Kirchner loyalist, Fernández is no stranger to controversy, being linked to football hooligans in his home town of Quilmes where in 2007 a Peronist rival accused him of ordering a gun attack on his house in order to intimidate him.

During his years as interior and then justice minister Argentina saw a boom in the volume of ephedrine imports after Mexico’s decision to clamp down on the drug in a bid to tackle growing methamphetamine production.

Argentina’s ephedrine imports jumped from 4,500 kilos a year in 2005 to 19,000 kilos in 2007. When a Peronist senator moved to ban imports in 2008 Fernández, who then served as interior minister, warned the senate that any measure would violate the human rights of the country’s sick.
