Hello I am a US citizen and have been in Argentina for 7-8 months without leaving, I am living with my Argentine girlfriend of 3 years. I started the process to become citizen, I ran into a snag when I found out later I had to have “no criminal record”. I got my fbi check and of course I had some non convictions from some old skeletons in my closet. (Misdemeanor stuff) so I rushed and payed for an expungement and it was approved and I am just waiting to challenge the fbi report to have some things Removed. I went to migrations office with my girlfriend and they told me I was technically illegal … so I’m not sure if I payed for the expungement for nothing, but I really wish I could hear from someone who has had minor prior history or directly from someone who has been in this situation.. A few questions : do I need an fbi report ? Or can it be something saying I have no convictions?
Important details -
1. I had a conviction and it was expunged and it is NOT on my report.
2. All of my non convictions are 6-7 years old.
