Attempted mugging near the Abasto

This is true the PFA don't answer to Macri. But the new metropolitan force (which does) is no better. They do get paid better, which mean corruption will be somewhat diminished. But don't forget that of the first three bosses hired to set up the force, two are in jail and one awaits trial. Fiscal corruption and a wiretapping scandal tied to Macri.

The real problem is they really can't be fired. Cops have gone to jail and then returned to the force.

As a former President Uruguay once said: the Argentines are all criminals. From A-to-Z they are all thieves. Having been robbed for the third time a few weeks ago, I am inclined to agree.

I am inclined to think they singled you out because your wife was with you, and that you are more likely not to put up a fight or will be distracted keeping your wife safe...

I agree that these little pieces of crap should be delt with, put in jail or something similar as if they get away with it they will keep on doing it...

I dont know if anyone else has noticed but there seems to be alot more kids on the streets late at night and alot more homeless people.. I walk back from correnties through panana to cordoba and can see around 10 homeless people sleeping in street doorways now.. 6 months ago would be lucky to see 1.. or maybe panana has more comfortable doorways and all the homeless head there..

I think you're right. They were definitely trying to close in on us and trap us on the pavement.

Yes, I'm really relieved nothing happened to you & your wife but still, you had to risk crossing the road in a hurry.

As a rule of thumb, when they are half your size & don't show any fear....they are usually armed...something gives them the feeling of confidence.

Sorry to sound like I'm repeating something but let's not forget, the federal police are controlled by Kretina.
The police are deliberately encouraged to not do too much as it's Macri's territory anyway.

The thugs with a foreign Spanish accent are encouraged to come here with the social plans that kretina offers them...so yes... it makes my blood boil to hear about it too.

Its scary to think they might have had a gun on them. They definitely were not Argentine.

I'm raging just now and just thought i would share.

First time anything like this has happened and i'm glad that nothing actually happened to us.

I'm also surprised as i am 6ft 5 and that didn't actually scare away the closest teen who couldn't have been more than 14 or make them decide that we weren't good targets in the first place!

The sad fact is that you need to be careful all the time here and getting angry is not going to help you stay safe. There are more and more cases being reported of people being shot for resisting a robbery. Even though you know you can defend yourself I doubt if they would think twice about shooting you to protect themselves. I doubt they have anything to lose.

There are also many many cases of people not defending themselves and being shot anyway.

I wanted to get my wife and myself out of that situation as soon as possible and if that meant stopping a random car to put it between us and the little shits who were trying to corner us then so be it.

Oh yes, all foreigners overstaying their tourist visa should be deported too!

Giving the sarcastic smiley there, it seems you don't really believe that?

I have to say, as a foreigner who did the perma-tourist thing for about two years, I was glad that it was possible, but I never understood why no one in the government worried about it, i.e. enforced their own laws.

I think that working within the rule of law, the government should deport people who overstay their visas when they are encountered. Of course, people (myself included) are going to take advantage of something like this that is allowed.
