Banned from entry for 8 years

Seemed to be just one and when I asked if there’s anything they could do they said they’ll call their manager. I did say that I came in February for just 2 weeks and there didnt seem to be any issue - certainly nothing was said when I exited the country that stint. I was only planning to come for 2 weeks again
Did you have proof of a return ticket/hotel that would assure them you planned to leave in the two-week timeframe?

@Vossos keep us updated! you legally paid the overstay and were "good" on the last visit. there is no reason for this and you should attempt to speak to as many immigration officials as possible. state your itinerary and any housing accommodation you already planned/paid.

Yes, I gave my airbnb address and my flights were booked 10 days apart. Interestingly the ban seems to be 8 years from my last exit as opposed to today and I visited for just 2 weeks just 2 months ago

I’m not sure I can do anything now. They hurried me onto the return flight very quickly

From posts on an earlier thread that you initiated, it seems your long (over)stay was from early 2024 to mid 2025, and you reported having visited around 5 times prior to that, beginning in 2022. Since the long stay, you've come once, for two weeks in February, and now this attempted entry. It would be useful for other regular tourist visitors who will be alarmed at this news if you could confirm that pattern (of course, later, once the shock has passed and you're feeling better) and also whether any of the five visits from 2022 were within the 90-day tourist entry or involved overstays and/or visa runs.

Yeah that’s about right. Prior to the 1.5 year stay I always stayed either 2 weeks or 2 months. I only had the one overstay and I’ve never done a visa run. It was an 8 month gap between the overstay and visiting in February

That is alarming then. Seven stays (six of them regular and all of those well short of even the 90 days) over a four-year period (not a particularly intense program by many visitors' standards), but hung for the one overstay (albeit a long one).

In addition to the 1.5 year stay, did you ever exceed the 180 day total límit as a tourist in a 12 month period since the date of your first arrival in Argentina in 2022?

I wonder if it's possible that doing so more than once triggered a "charge" of "abuse of the tourist visa" and that resulted in what happened today, or if now, just one previous overstay is enough to be denied entry and banned for years.

Perhaps we won't know for sure until it happens to someone else.
