I wasn't sure whether to file under 'culture' or 'expat events'.

I read about Bartering here in Argentina during the crisis with great interest as this is something I have been hoping would help Europe and the USA in particular during hard times:

Basically, people started trading items directly with each other since they had little access to traditional cash. Then a voucher system evolved.

Since then:

(basically very quiet now but it's still around)

I find this fascinating thing to see. I intend to visit as soon as I can.

They meet:

1) Thu 14:00-15:00 in Bar Pinchin (for discussion)
2) La Boca los Martes Thu/Thu @ 17:00
3) Boca, Pedro de Mendoza 1819 & Palos on the 1st and 3rd Sunday each month at 15:30 (the main meet in CapFederal as far as I can tell)

(this is pulled from http://redglobaldetrueque.blogspot.com/ -although it's all gone quiet now there are still groups elsewhere)

If you register you should be able to take along some unwanted things to offer and get some other stuff in exchange. Unlike Mercadolibre You shouldn't attract the AFIP, no inflation and you get to meet new people :)

I'm leaving again in a week so I don't think I got time, however, if you check it out please let me know how you got on and perhaps I can join you when I return in a few months.

Hope you like it
