Can someone point me towards a lively club/bar that's tourist friendly? I seem to have only been to the areas that most locals consider tourist traps and I want to venture somewhere a bit more exciting! I'm 25/m and looking for somewhere with good music and a good vibe.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

tried a few places but nope...all the same...sh**
Ok..I have blue Eyes and iam obviously no Latin,so i have the same experiences like you. I gave it up already

Konex, Niceto, Matienzo, CAFF, all are great places, each has a different personality.
Depends what you are looking for- for a sophisticated place with great jazz, I like Thelonius.
There are crazy all night dance clubs that start at 2 am, like Dengue Dancing, there is almost always punk at Salon Puerreydon.
La Playita is funky little house party club, with acoustic and jazz, more straight ahead rock with lots of foreign acts at Trastienda,

check out the nightly agenda here-

or, for EDM, here-

I dont quite get the "tourist friendly" part- except for some of the places that have 2000 gangbangers from the suburbs bopping to Cumbia Villera, I have never felt the least bit of bad vibe in any kind of club or venue here- I have been to tiny closed door places, crazy drag queen discos, big clubs, little clubs, and seen all kinds of music, and always felt welcome.

Matienzo might be a good place to start- its a twenty something mellow vibe, 3 bars, cheap food and drinks, live music, art shows, nobody is fronting.

People here dont drink themselves into a stupor like they do in the UK- no Cardiff scene here- its always a lot mellower. But there are certainly giant EDM clubs that run til ten am the next day, if thats your fancy.

Go to the expat lunches, meet some in the same place your in. Go to yoga, dance lessons, art lessons, museums, take the graffiti tour. Get a BsAs guide book and walk all over the city, it's beautiful.
