I've only found one affordable supplier of these and they are 20-year-old thin when new, with no buttons or ties at the ends, and not cheap either!
Does anyone else have a supplier they could recommend?

I can't use acolchados as I have guests coming once or twice a week and it's not possible to wash the acolchados that often (dry cleaning is not an affordable option).

Thanks!

I've looked and "HOME COLLECTION" is about the only place that you could consider worth buying, but their "High End" quality isn't awesome... however you wouldn't know that from the price.

Having someone mule them in from the States might be your best bet. That, or buying the fabric and having someone sew them for you.

I buy mine at Arredo Factory on Gurruchaga. For 2m x 2m, the lower quality but decent ones are $1040 pesos (ouch, they were 600 something a year or so ago) and the higher quality ones are around $1300 pesos. This is, of course, insane, especially as people/ laundromats stain them all the time and I don't charge my (paying) guests for stained or ruined bedding.

Napoleon: How much are they at Home Collection these days? I have been wondering... Also, do you know of anywhere that sells high quality Egyptian Cotton fabric, at least 2.5m wide, by the meter? I've considered this option, but the fabric would need to be wide enough to avoid the necessity for a seam line. Would love some info on this.

Well, I'm super-cheapo about this kind of thing, and I don't mind synthetic. The feather duvet I bought at falabella sheds all the time anyway.
For anyone else on a budget, I found this on Mercadolibre, comes with two covers (which makes up for the pretty hideous design options)

If you go for an acolchado, you can get a full set with sheets too for the same price!

Sadly anything from Arredo is CRAP. I have learned that the hard way, over and over again.

I bought a duvet from Home Collection years ago that's still in excellent condition but cost a month's rent. Unfortunately the cover they sold me was too big and heavy and makes me sweat so I got rid of it and bought a thin polar blanket at Easy and use it as a throw to cover the duvet so the cat doesn't get it dirty, plus the dry cleaner only charges $40 pesos to wash the duvet.

The quality at Home Collection has gone down while prices have gone up. I also wanted Egyptian cotton towels but then I realized that the little washing machines here couldn't handle them and they'd probably break. So I bought super absorbent fast dry towels in the States. If you can have someone bring things down here it's recommended. Bed Bath and Beyond has better deals on duvets than Home Collection and the sheets here feel like sandpaper. Someone is bringing me my yearly care package from the States: underwear, socks, tennis shoes. It's worth paying the delivery commission rather than using Argentine intimates that disintegrate faster than edible underwear. Now, if I could only get some body to bring several months' supply of Charmin ultra soft toilet paper without them getting embarrassed in customs at Ezeiza.

You should get decent duvet covers and covers, that way, you can just wash the cover in 30 mins and have them fresh and clean no need for dry cleaners

A tip: do not look for acolchados, or cubrecamas, what you are looking for is called " funda para edredon " they come with thies or buttons, etc. They have them at most bed and linen stores. also check out this promo http://www.groupon.com.ar/deals/bs-as-centro/desde-135-en-vez-de-305-por-una-funda-reversible-de-edredon-despertares-con-envio-a-domicilio/1564412

Nikad, thank you for the link. Even with a duvet cover I always dryclean my duvet twice a year to keep it fresh and mold free. I'm weary of buying something like sheets or covers without actually feeling them. My next care package from the States might include a duvet cover.
