CM means Mercado Central ? .... Is it the same Mercado Central but I go to a different hanger ?
Salmon 85 (buying the whole fish already cleaned and without the head) (it was 485 the whole salmon),
Hard to believe! .... I got filet today in Barrio Chino at $190/kg
115 (by penca),
What is by penca ?
jumbo shrimp 45,
Amazing! ... $120 in Barrio Chino !
trout 85 per kilo.
Did not look today .... but from what I remember should be $140.

I went to Mercado Central years ago . I remember it was like going the same way to EZEIZA.
Are we talking about that Mercado Central, .. or this is all together a totally different market at a totally different location.

Yep, all true! In addition to the prices Bajo Cero quoted, filet de merluza was 50 pesos a kilo and filet de lenguado was 95. I cooked the trout for lunch and it was delicious!

Shocking blockbuster jaw dropping prices !!!!!!!
Never again BarrioChino (after 10 years) .... better late than never.
Thank you very much Nornuega for the awesome tip !
Posts like these are treasures.

I love Argie trout .... hot smoked with black tea and wood chips .... in 6 minutes you´ll have the most exquisite dining at its finest best !
(Warning: .. wear a bib ...... you´ll most definitely dribble and drool )

For me ... salmon either cold smoked(6 hours) or just raw(brined in salt and brown sugar) .. with bottled hickory smoke.
(hardly ever broiled ... unless I have guests)

The prices are very good at the CM but, without a car and wanting to only buy a day or two's worth of fish at a time I am willing to pay the Chinese Market or Oscar Mar or.......their markup. Works out much cheaper for me and they make a profit and stay in business. I assume they are buying their fish at the same place you bought your fish so the freshness should be the same.

If you buy the salomon the way bajo cero mentioned, it only costs 110/kg in barrio chino
