Coffee Chat Zona Norte Tuesday Jan 26, 4-7Pm (San Isidro)

Hi Esteban,

What is the address of the coffee shop? I would like to join you guys in Palermo! It will be Tuesday, Jan 16th, 4-7pm, right?

I am, Esteban :) We even have the old, traditional, original Baexpats sign, I'll bring it.

Sorry folks, San Isidro is too far for me. Good luck though!

It is the Starbucks at Alto Palermo shopping on Arenales and Colonel Diaz you can take the linea D to Bulnes or many buses such as 29.152.12,39,68.64, 92, etc
we will be outside hopw to see you there!

As far as Zona Norte goes, this is a relatively inconvenient location for those of us without a car. Why not some place between Maipu and the River. I'm sure there are some Starbucks out that way.
To be fair, London2baires is the first to volunteer to host in Zona Norte. The benefits of volunteering? You choose the place. Maybe we'll have more volunteers going forward?? I'll be there. I don't have a car either. Coming from Palermo, this trip can take from about an hour to 1.75 hours by bus/train/bus (by bus/bus, 1.75-2.75 hours).

Hi Rodolfo!

Thanks for your interest in this event!

Maybe I wasn't very clear in my original post so let me try again now.

One of the main reasons that we are hosting a zona norte coffee chat is so that those of us who find it inconvenient to travel into the city from the north can also have a chance to get together and socialise nearer to where we live. As I think I mentioned already those who are in capital and want to come are also more than welcomed and may find getting out of the dense city a nice day out too.

I'd also like to point out that the coffee chats are free and well intentioned community events which are hosted by forum members out of the kindness of their hearts despite the effort involved in doing so. GMXam has organised many such events for almost two years now with great success! With the best of intentions it's impossible to please everyone and you are of course also welcomed to organise any events which you'd like and which are convenient to you as long as they are within the forum rules.

For those of you capital based expats thinking of attending let me also say that zona norte isn't another planet. The train from Belgrano C takes 24 minutes to get to San Isidro and the subsequent bus to this particular coffee chat takes 10 minutes or so. You can see the train timetables here: http://www.horariost...mitre_tigre.pdf

We look forward to seeing some of you on Tuesday!

Cheers!

I am just glad that we are having a coffee chat "up north". Coming to Alto Palermo takes me about 90 minutes. This means that attending a coffee chat takes me half a day and I don't usually have that much time during working days.

When the coffee chats were held at various locations I had more chances to make it because they were sometimes closer to me. But if they are in San Telmo or farther, they are definitely too time-demanding. However I do understand that finding each time a suitable place is quite a task for those organizing the meeting.

I remember Michelle once organized a coffee chat here in San Isidro at Iolo (5 blocks from the railway station), another time in La Lucila (2 blocks from the railway station, 3 blocks from gringoboy's shop).

So, thank you to those who organize coffee chats, no matter where.

As one says,"you can't please all of the people all of the time". I understand those in the Zona Norte and praise Michelle for trying to please all.
Just as it is hard for those in ZN to come to capital, it's the same way vice versa.
So at least for the next chat, we have a solution by Michelle hosting the ZN and me here in Palermo.

The reality ( as I see it ) is that people who live in the city don't have much of a desire or need to spend time in the burbs and vice versa for suburbanites. I think it's a great idea for the ZN people to organize their own chat.
Nancy

I, for one, like going to the burbs to see my friends and maybe meet some new ones. I'll be there Tuesday afternoon. Anyone else coming to the Zona Norte Coffee Chat besides those who've RSVP'ed to this chat so far?

Hello everyone, I'm a new member. I live in Olivos, Zona Norte (20 min from San Isidro),. And I will for sure be attending to the coffe chat in San Isidro on Tuesday afternoon. Very excited to have found this website and to meet new people to talk to. See you soon! ;)

Sorry to have to correct you Esteban but you are a little mistaken. I am organizing and hosting the Zona Norte Coffee Chat, and will be doing so on a regular basis from now on. Michelle will be attending the inaugural chat and is, as always, being very supportive with everything!
