The key word is ' first country'. It's perfect to ride a Chinese train or even a Russian plane. But vaccine, is not the same situation.
Through a statement, the Ministry of Health reported today approved use in the country of Russian coronavirus vaccine, known as Sputnik V . The chief of staff, Santiago Cafiero , said today that Argentina will be among the first countries in the world to vaccinate part of the population and highlighted the effort made during the pandemic to build a "shattered health system" with an investment of "45 one billion pesos ". " The ANMAT has recommended to the Minister of Health to grant the emergency authorization of the Sputnik V vaccine, which is presented as a safe and effective therapeutic tool for access for our country to lower mortality, reduce morbidity and reduce the transmissibility of the COVID-19 disease produced by the SARS-Cov virus ", says a fragment of the official resolution.

Infobae is a fount of information on the Sputnik V vaccine, just arrived in Argentina. The vaccine is upon us!

You can open these links to the articles in Google Chrome, tell it to translate Spanish to English and you're on your way.

Thanks but no thanks - lucky I am not high risk so I will sit back and observe for as long as I can. Let those who are old or want it go right ahead.

All rather worrying. I wonder what will happen to those health workers who refuse to have it?

Not only has one of the key young scientists behind the Russian vaccine been found dead after “falling out a window”, now there are increasing reports coming out of Russia that neither doctors or the people trust the virus, leading them to throw large quantities of the vaccines in the bin because they were not used in time.

Anecdotally, many of the Russians I know and am in contact with tell me that no one of them or their families will take the Russian vaccine because they simply don’t trust it (lack of transparency)

Way to go Argentina. This government sure knows how to spend the money it doesn’t have!

Trusting Argentinian paper on what supposedly is happening in Russia-that is anecdotally. Simply nowhere near reality.

Argentina is rolling out the Sputnik V vaccine NOW
BA Times:
Ahead of its arrival, Sputnik V was approved on “an emergency basis" on Wednesday by the Health Ministry.
In a statement, ANMAT said “the known and potential benefits for the health of the population are greater than the uncertainty that may exist."
"The product presents an acceptable benefit-risk balance," it concluded."
La Nacion: "The vaccines will arrive in the provinces on Monday 12/28/20 from 10 am. On Tuesday morning we can start vaccinating all together." "The 300,000 doses of the Russian vaccine will be destined for doctors and health personnel who are "in the first line of fire" in large urban centers, be it intensive therapies or emergency services."
"Once the successive batches arrive (Russia committed 5 million doses for January and 14.7 million for February) it will be followed by those over 70 and then by those over 60, in addition to the security forces."
BA Times: Fernández said earlier this month he hoped to vaccinate 300,000 Argentines before the end of the year, and 10 million citizens in the first two months of 2021 using the Russian shot.
Infobae: "good news came from Moscow. The Ministry of Health of Russia authorized this Saturday the vaccination against COVID-19 for those over 60 years with the Russian preparation Sputnik V. “The Ministry of Health approved changes in the instructions for use of the drug. Thus, citizens over 60 years of age will also be able to get vaccinated against the coronavirus ”, announced Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health, on that nation's public television."
There are other vaccines in the works...

"How will the vaccination be in CABA and Buenos Aires"
https://www.infobae.com/sociedad/20...bira-la-mayor-cantidad-de-dosis-de-sputnik-v/
"From the Ministry of Health of the Province they launched a web page where those who wish to be vaccinated can now register.
USE THIS ADDRESS instead of the glitchy one on the webpage:
https://vacunate.ms.gba.gov.ar/#request
“ There are already 250 thousand people who have expressed their wish to receive the vaccine . It will always be always on shift and through the website. No qeue-ing. We are not yet assigning shifts, we will do so when we know the exact delivery date of the five million that will arrive in January, but we do not know if it will be January 15, 17, 19 or 20. There we will begin to assign and It will be a huge deployment never seen before to vaccinate as quickly as possible” Said the Buenos Aires Vice Minister of Health.

I will pass being vaccinated in ARG with any vaccine. I will wait until I travel to the SF Bay Area in 2021 to be vaccinated there. At this point in time my first choice would be the Pfizer vaccine. My second choice would be the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.
