Prof. Ronit Calderon-Margalit of the Hebrew University – Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine said the disappointing effect of the five-week closure was due to a lax enforcement of the lockdown and fatigue in the public. Malbrán detected a new variant of the coronavirus in the country, variant 501Y.V3, lineage P.1 (Manaus, Brazil). In addition, two more samples of the P.2 variant (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) were detected, which had already been reported last January in our country. In all cases, they were isolated samples from travelers from Brazil.
