Covid Vaccination Argentina

What infectologist Roberto Debbag, the vice president of the Latin American Society of Pediatric Infectology, thinks about the combination of vaccines. The physician was optimistic and assured that, in a few weeks, the world will have new studies; in addition, he said with certainty that there is no serious risk when receiving different doses.

He analyzed the global panorama of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 and referred to recent studies on the combination of vaccines from different laboratories. “There are three groups that are studying some of the combinations, one is Oxford, and possibly in the second week of August there will be the data of the combination of AstraZeneca and Sputnik. In the United States, there are other combinations as well. Another was published in Spain, with a combination of Pfizer and AstraZeneca. For Sputnik we only have the potential Oxford study, that is why the need to have these studies in Argentina ”....

....Along these lines, he highlighted the importance of conducting linear studies in ARG in order to accelerate the vaccination campaign. “The prospects for vaccine arrivals are very good. If we now have AstraZeneca vaccines available and more Sinopharm vaccines arrive, immediately we must carry out studies that consist of applying a dose of AstraZeneca or Sinopharm to those who have already received the first and studying immunity after 21 days ”....
Combining vaccines is something to be taken very seriously, and studies are certainly the way to go, though I think "a few weeks" is a very optimistic target if clinical trials are going to be used. Nothing in the medical or scientific response to the pandemic has happened in a few weeks. Also, when a scientist tells you "there is no serious risk", he means exactly that, he doesn't mean that it will necessarily work. But then, who needs scientific studies when " la ciudad de Buenos Aires comenzará a instrumentar esta estrategia a mediados de agosto", as Infobae reports?

One by one: what is the effectiveness, with one or two doses, of the vaccines applied in the country. The result of a study with 700,000 older adults from all over the country was released last night by the Ministry of Health of the Nation, after a meeting of the National Immunization Commission (Conain)....

Just saw this headline pop up on the news.

What an about-face? How interesting coming from a govt that didn't need anything from the great Imperio del mal, a govt so soberano? What a bunch of hypocrites!

What a shit show today with the legislators aligned with the govt voting to not change the law allowing Pfizer and then Albertito issuing a decree stating just the opposite. This is worse than the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. This is a bunch of clowns running around in circles.

Motive? Elections 2021: Argentines will go to the polls for the renewal of a portion of the body of national legislators.
The dates are September 12 for the primaries and November 14 for the legislative general election.

Any guesses for which legislators exactly were blocking it... meanwhile their friends who own the labs making the Argentine components of the currently available vaccines or serving as intermediarios probably won't be happy to hear there may be competition on their turf for which no one is getting a cut of the action...

Does anyone have an update on if Janssen and Moderna actually been approved by ANMAT yet?
