Covid Vaccination Argentina

And those who received Pfizer or Moderna had a satisfactory response against Ómicron, without complications. The vaccines work well".
I think it is clear now that the coronavirus mutates faster than pharmaceuticals can produce and release the new vaccines. The strains that are predominant now are way less lethal than the original variants. So, my guess is that nobody really waits when these bivalent vaccines arrive to Argentina. By the time the new vaccine gets here, we will have a different coronavirus strain, and so on.

Third reinforcement against Covid: what do the experts think (and also warn) about applying a new dose....The health authorities of ARG agreed in the Federal Health Council (Cofesa) to apply a new reinforcement of the vaccine against SARS-CoV-2. The decision was reported on Saturday and reaches the population that has received its second booster – or fourth dose if the first two were not from Sinopharm – 120 days ago or more. In other words, with this new application, for many it would be the fifth vaccine since they started their scheme.

The figures show that the interest in getting vaccinated dropped significantly and specialists warn that official communication would have to be reinforced so that a large part of the population is inoculated with the first and second booster....On the other hand, at the beginning of next year the new Spikevax bivalent vaccines would arrive, from the Moderna laboratory, which will be more effective against the variant of the predominant omicron and its sublineages. However, the local health authorities decided to go ahead with the third booster and apply the vaccines already available on the market....

....A few days ago, the health authorities of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) summoned all those over 50 years of age to receive the fifth dose. What stands out in this regard, is that from now on all those who go to the authorized vaccination centers will be able to do so without prior appointment, provided that four months have passed since the application of the fourth dose (or second booster)....Those who can receive the fifth dose can go to the five authorized places in the City: Arcos 2319 (Belgrano); Club San Lorenzo (Avenida La Plata 1782), Colegio de Abogados (Corrientes 1441); Beiró 4629 (Devoto) y Ministerio de Salud (Amancio Alcorta 2100). At all of them they are administering the

Good news! Thanks!

Update: Yesterday (Sat) at 8:00am I called #147 to confirm that those over the age of 50 who qualify to receive the 5th shot (if the 4th shot was applied more than 120 days ago) may arrive at the vaccination centers w/o an appt as stated in the article.

Per the operator: "at this call center we have yet to be informed of that directive". He suggested I use the City website to schedule the appt online as many "turnos" are available for the week of Nov. 14-18 at the authorized vaccination centers which are open Mon-Fri from 8:00am-4:00pm.
https://www.buenosaires.gob.ar/coronavirus/vacunacion-covid-19
The system will accept as ID: DNI Ext (Foreign), Pasaporte (Foreign), Residencia Precaria (con foto)

I scheduled my "turno" for Monday, Nov 14. I received the confirmation email exactly 24 hrs later. If you decide to re-schedule, you must first cancel the original "turno" prior to the appointed date before the system allows you to schedule a new one.

Everyone needs to take their own decision, but personally I think I'll wait: as Gracielle posted on the previous page, these vaccines are the original ones developed for COVID, not the bivalent ones starting to be used in Europe now. The article Gracielle quoted indicated the bivalent ones might arrive here in summer.

I got my 4th dose (Moderna) at the end of May, plus a tetravalent flu vaccine around the same time, so I really think I'm ok for the moment.

From what I hear, the bivalent COVID vaccines cause stronger side effects again (fever, etc.), I'll know more when I call my parents today :)
