seems like nowadays everything is - judging by the amount of reality shows around the world...i'd say porn starts looking pretty innocent comparing to the low life personality trends the humankind is offering for the public entertainment in TV programs

It's all about market value. If you are a while male from the US or Europe, you'll do much better with Argentinian women than someone from elsewhere from Latin America, who have lower market value. That is, they aren't typically going to downgrade socially by dating a Colombian or a Mexican. They exception being when your income is high enough that other considerations become irrelevant. It's another form of Argentine exceptionalism perhaps.

I personally have found dating much more easy going in Bogotá and Santiago, and I didn't feel like I had to provide my CV and income level, or pass a political litmus test before a coffee date, unlike here.

Well I see this situation on a totaly different way. The thing is "argentinian women prefer or tend to look for foreigners men" (we could make an exception with spanish or italian men, since they are pretty similar to latinamerican men) because in a super general point of view latinamerican men TEND to be kinda agressive, possesive or raw, almost like the "latin macho steryotipe" that a lot of people have in mind when you think about latin men (and you aren't latin). So in contrast, foreigners men seem more soft, gentle, kind or sensitive. Again, this is just a super general point of view of a young argentinian.
And there's another reason too, the physical and cultural (language) impact factor. It means basically, when you have a life meeting the same kind of people, you could get bored easily of what you get (and see)! Then you meet with a foreigner and you think (wow he/she is exotic and interesting).
This phenomenon happen in the whole world, not only here.
And OF COURSE there exist bad people who just want to use you for status or papers, as you say, but I don't think it's the only reason.

That's a common fetish for US-Euro white males (perhaps second only to their fetish for Asian women). There are plenty of films and TV shows that use the trope of the sexy and helpless Latina that needs a white male to civilize her. For most of them, their idea of a Latin American woman is based on Sofía Vergara's character on Modern Family.

I'm a Latino with a USPP, and unlike most of the males I grew up around who love generic blonde Pamela Anderson-type American women, I actually prefer dating within my own culture.

I`m a girl myself and to me Argentinian men do not seem macho at all. Real machos are eastern europeans, russians, ucranians and guys from balkans etc. Latinos are sweet as puppies or kittens, jaja.
