I’m looking for a furnished studio or one bedroom apt in Barrio Norte or Balvanera. Are anyone of you renting (or know someone who's renting) something like that? If not, any suggestions on the best way to go about finding a place? Thanks for any help you can provide!

I recommend using 4 Rent Argentina. They are local and should have what you are looking for. I have used them a few times.

I recommend, if you speak Spanish or have someone who can, that you make a list of all the real estate offices and visit them in the neighborhood you want. Ignore what is on the board outside and go inside and ask. Many trying to sell will rent and they also have contacts. Those offices are on almost every other block.

Good idea. Thanks a lot!

Nobody mentioned the real estate agents here are nearly all none responsive. I just moved to my new apartment, after calling and texting about 50 agents, only three of them responded me and shown me the property. Also lots of ads on Argenprop, mercado libre, Zonaprop are fake ads, simply ghost ads for the property that's not available.

Also I don't know if you can find a guarantor here, even if you can the verification process takes about 2 weeks, or else you can talk to the owner to waive this requirement by pay off the rent of the entire duration of stay. (Even under this condition, some donkey owner will still insist to ask you for a guarantor, like a shark on meat.)

The other thing is very important, if you do pay off the entire table on the contract, you need to have the full hard dollar cash, fresh brand new Benjamins. Something reasonable to have 10K dollar in hand, which you know...possible, but you might need some time to gather the amount of cash. Wire transfer dollar from abroad directly to Argentine owner is simply none exist, unless the owner is a lucky privileged person with account elsewhere. Althrough some agency might have an account in states that allow you to pay directly, like the one I use.

Alternative if you looking for fast and area specific renting, just do it with AirBnB. If you need contract, I think AirBnB does allow owner and tenant to sign contract, I was reading it before. Renting in BA involves lots of affort in finding, lots of distrust, and the payment issue.

Great lead! Thanx
You are welcome. Julia and Rob have great suggestions also. A lot of getting an apartment from the local offices will have to do with how long you are looking for. The lowest time for a contract that I have found has been 2 years, so that is something to consider. This is why I chose 4 Rent Argentina and did try Airbnb, shorter options. Then there is the Guarantor issue, fortunately I found someone willing to take USD as a deposit, I got lucky. If you are persistent you should find something.
