Did Trump save Venezuela?

There is no doubt that the Russian society is not healthy and that the country is one of the most corrupt in the world, no one claims it to be great for quality living but they are stable politically and lets not forget how important that is. Contrary that had been said on here, I think they are relevant because they have immense geopolitical influence on a range of issues in the world; North Korean nuclear proliferation, their decision to protect the Venezuelan regime, strong leverage on negotiations between various opposition factions in Syria, various political strings attached to Turkey and Iran, their vital gas and oil supplies to Europe and Asia, their meddling in foreign politics and cyber influence on different levels in different countries. This is their foreign policy and the relevance on the world stage, they use their leverage to extract concessions from the international community through intense negotiations even at the expense of their own people, aka counter sanctions on the European farmers and the ongoing support of ultra nationalist movements across Europe. They may not be benevolent from the western point of view but their strategy is effective, they have influence and a foot in the door as well as veto power in the United Nations' Security Counsel which they exercise fully to fulfill their geopolitical interests.

The reason why I responded about Russia and carry on with the details is because of the stark contrast between an average Russian to an Average Argentine. On one hand both countries bare similarities, both are developing nations with commodity driven economies, both corrupt and culturally conservative and family oriented yet the Russians are way better off on the longer term because they favor stability knowing that without stability there can be no economic improvements. They let an authoritarian government rule over them because Putin can make a phone call to the central bank and raise interest rates and keep them there until inflation drops from nearly 20% back to 4% in a matter of a year without printing Rubels to pay for the public sector! He can also successfully negotiate a new gas pipeline to Germany and secure a long term contract to guarantee enough revenue for his sanctions ridden home, their domestic manufacturing and the farming sector are booming so on the long term even if some sanctions remain in place they are determined to succeed because of an effective strategy and good stability, none of which are present in here. Argentines meantime are busy disagreeing with union representatives and borrowing more to fund their inefficient government while hoping for a miracle to stabilize the peso while purposefully continuing to devalue it by expanding the money supply by nearly 50% a year.
I agree with what you said. But compared to Russians, Argentines enjoy the true democracy. What Pudin did is pretty much like what the military gov did in Argentine, except that Putin has a lot more charm. What is better for Argentina, enjoy the democracy with some what chaotic management, or being thrown out of plane/going to jail if you disagree with the dictator ? Argentines are far far happier than Russians, the life quality is better too. If you open the border of these two countries, there will be more Russians coming to Argentina. Russia used to be the big brother of China, and China looked up to Russia. Now Russia's economy size is smaller than that of a province of China. There is not much China needs to get from Russia. China's dictator is keeping Putin afloat. Russia is not doing that well. Poland is stable and very wealthy compared to Russia and Ukraine. I would choose Argentina over Russia any minute. Plus Argentine women are more romantic and warmer, than those of Russia :)

Just the facts...

It may be true that neocons are taking advantage of the crisis in Venezuela but it is Maduro and his predecessor Chavez who have ruined the country and played into the hands of capitalists. It's also true that the disastrous state of Cuba has more than interfered in Venezuela for a long time. Which one do you prefer?

Trump and Bolton are twin morons and neither idiot understands foreign policy. They think sanctions are the answer to every international situation.

Maduro needs to leave. If not were for the US military options, he would have opened fire on his people. US is an oil exporter now, not interested in their stinking oil. Plus, how can US oil companies just take the oil from Venezuela ? They did no take it in Iraq, Chinese oil companies are in Iraq now.
If Maduro is to fall, oil production will go way up, the oil price would go down, not to the benefit of US oil companies. I know there are a lot of Trump haters, but do not forget, Maduro and communists are evil, Trump just acts like an idiot sometimes. Any US president, democratic or republican, is likely to use military intervention if Maduro starts to kill his people. This would be the right circumstance for US to use force to finish Maudro. Look at the countries which support Maduro, would you want to be part of them ? There are a few other dictators still around, most of them have nuclear war heads in their hands. If they do not have nuclear weapons, US is probably looking for opportunity to finish them too, that's not bad.

This might be off the topic a little bit, Obama administration was so weak, they allowed Chinese navy to chase US warships around in South China Sea, and saw China rack up 500 billion trade deficit a year not knowing what to do. A lawyer who has no business sense. Trump totally reversed that, and scared the crap of Chinese govenment's pants. --- I am not a Trump fan.

One can be against Maduro and against foreign interventions in Venezuela at the same time.
Chavez, Maduro and the policies they have adopted were the symptoms of a highly dysfunctional society. A foreign intervention will do nothing to address those underlying issues. The only people who can fix Venezuela are the Venezuelans. Anything else is to invite even greater disaster.
