Dollars as a tourist

We tried to change pesos last week, as "tourists" and we were asked to present a "comprobante" of previous transactions that were done when we first arrived here. Unfortunately i had no recipe of those but my husband did and was able to change money. I dunno if this still works given the fact that rules are constantly changing :/

I wonder what a comprobante then is, if its the receipt of your ATM transaction withdrawing pesos you can make 30% on your money in just 15-20 minutes.

1: Go to casa de cambio with pesos and your receipts
2: Fill out some forms
3: Get dollars
4: Change dollars at your local cueva or at florida

6000 peso then would turn into 7800 peso

i tried back when you could still buy dollars with 40% of your pay, as a tourist and afip told me to get lost

If you deal with AFIP I somehow think you are not a (perm) tourist

And what does AFIP have to do with your transaction with a casa de cambio?

What is an ATM reciept? Don't think you have access to it if you are a (perm) tourist here

When you extract money from a Bank ATM a receipt is printed with all the data, if you threw it away...!! Bad luck.

So if you come with your ATM reciept and pesos you can get dollars? Have you tried this?

Must it be your account and an account abroad?

Can you tell me what kind of form you need to do and what you need to bring?

I tried this at every exchange at EZE back in december and they all told me I needed proof of changing the funds at an exchange house.

Same happened to me as PhilipDT says. I had an ATM receipt, but that doesn't work.

You have to first purchase the pesos (with dollars) here in Argentina, keep that receipt (comprobante), then you can change the remaining pesos back into dollars with the receipt at only a few select places (the one in Alto Palermo mall near Lindt chocolates used to do it).

This was back in January, so I have no idea what's possible now!

couldn't buy dollars at the casa de cambio without dni and they told me i needed a form from afip that i was a tourist about to leave the country to buy back dollars. afip was unaware of this form

I know of some clients of mine (tourists) who were able (very much to my surprise) to change pesos to dollars in one of the main Casas de Cambio in Florida (the shopping street, not the US State) two weeks ago.
