Tonight's "Noche de los Museos" is one of my favorite night of the entire year. Over 170 venues open to the public, FREE, and most open until 3:00am.

How's that for being positive?

Because it can be difficult to you to understand (maybe you should have lived a little bit in middle size Argentinean towns to get it) but we like our country. Like French like Landegoc or good food; like Thais like rice, etc etc etc. Gone are the times of "this country es una mierda, I want to live in Europe" yada yada yada. Now if somebody says that, we answer: "good luck, don´t forget to write, and the doors are open for you to come back".

In 2006 I searched extensively on line for properties in LANDULOC prior to my first visit to BA. I couldn't afford anything that I would want to buy

I lived in Capital Federal for four years and I was very glad to get out when I did. I think I know how the OP feels, but I did not share is desire to leave Argentina.

Now I live within two KM of the Costa Atlantica, Argentina.

Long gone is my desire to live in Europe.

Argentina is now my (chosen) home.

And those who want to live like I do will find that it's not only still possible, it isn't very difficult, either.

After 18 months of peace and tranquility in el campo, I find it more desirable than ever.

Can you buy dollars in any of them there museos ? Sorry, couldn't resist.:p

This is one of the oldest stories in immigration- the return home.
Historically, around 10% of all immigrants to the USA decided it wasnt for them and went home- 10% of the Irish, or Italians, or Norwegians, or any of the early european immigrants.
And today, for certain countries, that number is even higher- many Mexican immigrants to the USA have been sending money home for decades, building houses in their birth villages, to retire to. Tons of Greek restaurant owners in NYC go back to Greece to retire.
A lot of Indian engineers are back in India after getting their grad degrees in the USA and working for Microsoft for 15 years.

Even the USA, the land of milk and honey, only convinces a portion of its newcomers that they want to stay.
Why should Argentina be any different?

Only if you find me. I'm selling for 4.90 : 1 (it's a slight deal over the "X-Rate"), but you'll have to give me a heads up. And it will all be done out in the open.

I don't understand... everyone keeps on saying 'if you don't like here, then just go', now this person who is not liking it here goes, he gets a whole shitload of reproaches...:eek:

I wish him all the luck in his 'new life'.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! And even the negative feedback provided me with some laughter...lol
