What's a good brand? Or where to get it?

My uncle is an olive farmer in Spain and I have yet to taste an olive oil as good here. Nothing fancy, just the straight up good stuff.

I'd be interested in going if it's not a hard sell.

They have no laws on the labelling of Olive oil here, so when it says "Extra Virgen" it probably ain't. I have two sources for good olive oil in the city. Bodega Amparo (I know I always recommend them ;)) or Sommeliers. Good wine and olive oil seem to go hand in hand in Buenos Aires.

My palate for olive oil is not all that refined, but these guys have a store on Riobamba between Corrientes and Lavalle, and we buy from them all the time.

The also have a store on alem near cordoba. I've bought their oils a couple times over the years, I don't think its really all that good.

There is tons of good oil around. I usually grab a a few bottles of the stuff from domaine st diego when I order wine, its awesome or . For the day to day cooking etc I usually go for Yancanelo.

For 300 pesos I better be walking out the door with a couple of bottles of high grade olive oil. I hope the speaker talks quickly as that's quite the syllabus you're packing into the 2 hours.

So for 2 hours speaking you're looking to take in around 3600 pesos and to give away nothing other than advice? Surely not?

If you find yourself in Uruguay, Familia Longo olive oil farm and production facility, near Carmelo has really excellent oil at direct to you prices. And it's a fun trip.
