Hello all,

I arriving in BA from London in a few weeks and would really appreciate some advice on health insurance. I am a 26 year old male with no major medical problems.

I plan to work in the informal English teaching market (not easy I know!) and need to plan and budget for health cover.

How do expats manage? I've heard that OSDE, Swiss Medical and CEMIC are good but expensive.

Would international travel insurance suffice?

Excuse my ignorance!!

UK travel insurance is your cheapest option, and that is what i use (NZ company). However you need to check about whether you will be cover for work.
Mine covers me at no extra cost because i do computer consulting - remotely, so i dont actually need to go to a workplace, and its not a dangerous job.

At your age you can also just "rely" on public health care if you are willing to take a bit more risk.
