Hi,

My name is Gabriela, I am Argentinian but I have been living abroad for almost 9 years.

I live in Brussels now and am planning to go back to Buenos Aires for family reasons.

I work as a press officer in an international organisation.

I am a journalist and I worked in the Communication field in Spain and Argentina as well.

I would like you to give me some orientation about headhunters in Buenos Aires; I have only contacted Korn Ferry.
All the people I used to know in Argentina left the country as well, so I have "no eyes" there, no vision of how the job market is now.

Thank you a lot for reading this message.

Merry Xmas to you all,

Gabriela.

Are you really returning to Argentina without knowing anyone...not even family?

If that is the case, I sincerely wonder why you would want to return.

Gabriela - welcome home! What type of work are you looking for? If you're looking for something in communication, I would imagine you may need a specialized recruiter.

I know Adecco has offices here if you're looking for office work - they may be a place to start.

I used Avature in Buenos Aires to find my employees. I don't know how much work they do locally, I think their client base is mostly in Europe. However, they might be a starting point or be able to point you towards a local recruiting firm.

Buena suerte!

Hi Steve,

I have my mother in Argentina, she is the main reason why I am thinking to go back, for she is old. It is true that I am settled in Brussels and Europe but at the same time I am getting tired of life in the North of Europe, Brussels is quite impersonal and people are more and more family-oriented, so it can be pretty lonely sometimes...

I work as a Press Officer in Brussels in an international organisation.

I have heard different and almost opposite comments on how employment is in Buenos Aires, the ways to get it but all agreed on the fact that to get a good job, with a more or less fair, normal salary, you need to have contacts, connections...

It had always been like that in the past so I guessed this side to life in Buenos Aires, this culture of job-seeking has not changed.

I am really lost these days concerning my decision to move back or not, maybe it is due to the fact that I am suffering the lack of light, the horrible Northern European winter...

I will see...

Can you let me know what your impressions are on the job market situation in Buenos Aires?

Thank you,

Gabriela.

Hi Gabriela

I know how you feel regarding European winters - I lived in Germany and had a similar experience.
I think getting close to your family is a good reason to decide to relocate to Argentina. However you´re doing right in finding more reasons to make Argentina your new home, such as finding good employment conditions.
Looking for a job can be tough, but your wealth of work experience will give you great advantage, in my opinion.
My recommendation is that you enjoy the process of resettling to Argentina. This will be another journey in your life! You may feel as a foreigner sometimes, even though you are Argentinian and lived here before. It´s part of the deal, but at the same time it can be a really exciting experience to see your own country with foreigners eyes!
Regarding your job search, I suggest you to register in Linkedin (www.linkedin.com)
It´s a great source to extend your professional network. You can join different groups of interest of Recruiters and HR Specialists in Argentina. You can share your profile and let Headhunters know of your skills and experience.
Are you familiar with this tool?

Hope it helps.

Good luck!
