Importing Money

You can bring with you all the cash you want as soon as you declare it in origen and when you arrive here.
You need some documentation to evidence that this is honest money that paid tax, not big deal.

What kind of documentation would prove that tax had been paid? And when bringing in more than $10k, do you have to go through additional red tape at EZE? Is there a tax or fee on the additional amount?

Great advice, if you like the possibility of having your money held by the Argentine government until they decide they're happy with your explanation as to its origin.

I know someone who lost $35,000, in spite of the fact that it was declared in both US and ARG, and its provenance documented by banking documents.

"Reputable bitcoin market" is perhaps the ultimate oxymoron.

They actually do exist. Furthermore, bitcoin is gaining more and more acceptance. For example, one can trade bitcoin binary options through the North American Derivatives Exchange (NADEX), which is licensed by the CFTC.

Well, to ask afip for what evidence do you need seems a first step.
To ask gor an approval before even travelling seems the right way to do it.

They're still a flawed technology experiment.

It's still just a flawed technology experiment that a bunch of idiots have decided to go nuts over, still all the flaws are in the wiki so everything's grand as long as no one tries to fix any of them!

Not to mention the possibility, if not the likelihood, of having it five-fingered on the way from the airport. Declaring cash here, even if it will certainly be allowed through, sounds like a singularly foolish idea.
