It is true. You need to look up various opinion polls in Muslim world. There is widespread support even for Al Qaeda, not to speak of fundamentalist Islam in general.

As you're not a scholar of Islam it's maybe not up to you to tell Muslims what their religion means. Let them figure that out. So when a Western politician like Cameron or Obama start to lecture the world on what Islam means and that it "condemns violence" (lol) I roll my eyes. When did they become scholars of Islam? Their job is to defend their nations and their borders. Of course they don't want to do that, so instead they do these pious homilies.

The question French youth must confront is not about Islam, it is this, "Who is it over these last 30 years or more, who let in so many people from the third world (whether Muslim or not) into our nation? When did the French people get to vote on that? Why were they let in?"

The question every human must ask is "who labelled him/her as muslim, catholic or jew?"was he born with a label on his body? are new born babies born with labels identifying their religion?

The 2nd question which every human must ask, who has made these -man-made-boundaries. Was the earth created with boundaries/lines? This is France. this is Argentina. this is Iraq? what if.. every human was born with wings like a bird?
