My $2400 WU transaction from Australia was sent to me, to be collected in Argentina, on Wednesday 16th 3am Argentinian time.

I went to pick it up to day, to execute it, and the system told the the receptionist to pay me the old rate.

I tried to get the money out today but when she quoted me the old rate I walked out.

They want to pay me 16000 pesos for the money sent on Wednesday which I have not collected.

But if I sent same money today .I get 24000

And its even worse, because I dont just lose 8000 pesos, the cost of living and buying things just went up overnight 50% in pesos, so its really 150% downgrade in that transaction.

If I'm remembering it correctly, the offical rate devalued on Thursday while you sent the money before, so I don't see any wrongdoing. When you sent money in a foreign currency, a FX transaction is made converting your AU$ into AR$ at the current rate. That's the amount you should get, if you pick it up instantly or a week later when the conversion rate changed. Or do I miss something here?

well, my Puro Argentino tobacco went from 37 to 45, but I'm pretty sure they'll figure out that everything else stayed the same price... cafe con leche still hovering around the low-30s. Costs more in dollars, but reckon you'll have plenty of those to spend if you've been on the CFK gravy train for the last decade...
