Inflation expected to top 30% this year

Queen, plastic face, etcetc. Call her names, but the facts are that:

We have reserves now (De la Rua, 2001 did not), we have GDP growth (2002 not), we don't have a 25% unemployment (Menem 1995-1999), we don't have the army killing innocent people (1976-1983), we don't have hyperinflation (1989), the external debt is decreasing for the first time since.. I don't know... 1976? And other stuff, of course.

Crazy old queen, I think it was.

The problem is that I don't believe it. I don't believe any of the numbers put out by this government. And what will she do with these reserves & pension funds???? When she's gone I think the truth will come out. That's not a good place to be.

When I first arrived I was quite impressed that Cristina had the top seat. Of course at that time I didn't really know anything about her or what was really going on in Argentina and I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

I'm no longer impressed.

Marksoc, I envy you. Must be nice to live in your alternative universe.

Menem was really more corrupt than this govt? And how many expats would want to live here if they had to wait years for a telephone line, if they had constant power shortages and completely unworkable services?

Another question: Where is the public money that Nestor sent abroad? For those who don´t know, as governor of Santa Cruz he sent the province´s treasury funds abroad for safe keeping. It hasn´t come back.

Perhaps Menem was as corrupt, but he was also an intelligent and competent man. He opened Argentina to world investment, and the local standard of living showed it.

He was also a self-assured man, who did not have to get even with anyone as this pathetic couple is. In my view, they are just opportunists set on proving that they are as good as the people they have envied all their lives.

we dont have reserves...Kirchners and their friends do.
GDP, unemployment, inflation....all made up numbers, the oficial ones you are listing there. Really, you need to accept the fact that those numbers are fake. The numbers are way different in the real world, according to everyone else..worldwide !

dont have hyperinflation ? of course not, menem (with all his mistakes) took care of that...altough Ks are trying really hard to having it again, see, in this subject they are actually very successfull and efficient and in getting wealthier every year.

External Debt at this point is impossible to tell where we´re at, nonetheless, ppl in this country still suffers the same or more and things are only getting worse...

Marksoc must be the only Argentine buying Indec's doctored figures.
Right now, Argentina's country risk is as high as Greece's. Which is bankrupt.

Uruguayans have gone from envying us to pitying us. Hard to believe, but true.

Indeed, Argentina does have reserves for the moment. However, believe Ms. Fernandez wishes to tap those reserves for her own agenda. The point is, spending/transfering those reserves at this point in time only exacerbates inflation and worsens Argentina’s credibility: loss of Central Bank independence. With reserves (dollars), your currency has convertibility, which translates to stability. Take away the reserves, and the Argentine economy becomes flooded with new paper from new loans. When the reserves are gone, what do you back your peso with, next years soy bean crop? The world loaned you hard currency (dollars) and they expect that payment in the same currency. Creditors need to see hard assets: dollar reserves.
