Thought CDMA is no good in Argentina, you need GSM. If they phone has it, great.

CDMA comes with GSM capability - GSM however doesn't come with CDMA.

Actually the iphone 5 and above come with both inside. If you have a phone that is locked, and you are going to take it here, all you need to do before you leave is buy the gsim 9 chip to take with you. The gsim 9 chip will unlock your phone without jailbreaking it, and it is very simple to use. Costs 20 bucks on their website. Just take out your current sim tray, put the movistar or claro sim in the new gsim 9 tray, and stick it in. Choose your OS. You'll be ready to go.
