Hi I would like to buy an unlocked 3gs iPhone here in ba because they are cheaper than back home in Australia. Does anyone know where I can buy one.I hava already been to personel and claro which only sell the phones on a plan . Thanks for any help you can give me.
Hi Amandaot,
Factory unlocked iPhones are not sold in Argentina (at least not by any authorized resellers). Only a small number of countries do offer factory unlocked iPhones (usually because of local laws).

The reason they seem cheaper here is because they are locked and tied to a 2 year contract (ie, actual phone cost is subsidized).
You can find new factory unlocked iPhones here in
MercadoLibre, but it is likely going to cost more than what Apple sells them for in Australia.
One of our iPhones is a factory unlocked 3gs (32MB). We imported it from Australia via the US. Works great here, without the limitations of a jailbroken iPhone; BUT you still have to sign up for a contract with a local carrier to get 3G data services, etc. w/o going bankrupt.
